Anne Johnston, Founder & Managing Director of Created Wealth Advisory in Los Angeles, CA, shares her life planning journey with Lora Woodward, COO of Kinder Institute. Anne is one of over 600 professionals globally who have earned the prestigious Registered Life Planner® (RLP®) designation.
Transforming Wealth Management Through Life Planning
Anne’s journey into financial services began with a transformative internship at a venture capital firm in California. Witnessing the intersection of financial tools and entrepreneurial dreams, Anne realized that money could be a tool to bring dreams to life, sparking her interest in financing planning.
After starting her career at a wirehouse, Anne’s perspective shifted when she encountered a client who felt overwhelmed by traditional financial planning advice. This experience led her to explore life planning, eventually discovering George Kinder’s book, The Seven Stages of Money Maturity. This encounter marked a turning point in Anne’s career, inspiring her to enroll in life planning training and integrate the methodology into her practice.
Since becoming a Registered Life Planner® professional in 2016, Anne has embraced life planning as the core of her advisory work. She helps clients navigate major life transitions, such as receiving inheritances or selling businesses, by using life planning as a decision-making framework. By aligning financial decisions with clients’ goals and values, Anne empowers them to make choices that lead to greater fulfillment and impact.
Anne’s commitment to life planning extends beyond her professional life. She has personally experienced the transformative power of life planning and continues to use the process to clarify her own vision of freedom and fulfillment.
In her advisory work, Anne has witnessed the profound impact of life planning on her clients’ lives. By helping clients articulate their dreams and desires, Anne has seen them achieve remarkable outcomes, often exceeding their own expectations. Whether it’s traveling the world, investing in impact projects, or empowering future generations, Anne’s clients have found new levels of fulfillment and satisfaction.
As Anne continues her life planning journey, she is focused on cultivating community and sharing wealth. She is passionate about creating spaces for creativity and empowerment, including initiatives like the Freebird Challenge and women’s self-defense programs. Through her work with Created, Anne aims to make a broader impact by sharing the best practices of life planning with a wider audience.
Anne’s advice to those starting their life planning journey is to begin with themselves. By experiencing the work firsthand, individuals can authentically offer life planning to others and expand their horizons in unexpected ways.
Anne’s story is a testament to the transformative power of life planning. Through her dedication and passion, Anne is reshaping wealth management, making it clear, approachable, and even beautiful for her clients and the broader community.
